California Here We Come

California Here We Comefeatured

DSC_0926Much earlier this year I travelled on a ‘Wrist doctors of the world’ tour. It started in Australia, then onto London and Dusseldorf, eventually ending up in the States around March. This was not the most ideal of tours to be on. So to spice things up, I invited Jen and Sally to join me in California. Other than driving back and forth from the airport to Indian Wells, I’d never had time to enjoy the sights of LA. Let’s begin!IMG_6410Cheesy tourist pic in Santa Monica? Check.IMG_6504Group selfie at the Getty Museum? Check. I took loads of pictures of the view from the Getty museum. Sadly due to the pollution that day none of them turned out nice enough to blog about.Candid yet completely planned photo at the top of Runyon Canyon? Check. Sorry about the pixel quality on this one, I only brought my phone along for the hike. DSC_0897CSC_0922DSC_0883One of my appointments required a long drive along the Pacific Coast Highway. As you can see it was a real inconvenience for us. I pestered my trainer every 10 minutes to stop the car for a photo-op. For anyone who’s seen the OC, you’ll know that no Californian road trip is complete without singing along to this song as loud as possible. Check.

A quick restaurant guide to LA. The best places we dined at, in no particular order… Craft, Cleo (greatest brussel sprouts of my life) and Nobu in Malibu (the view!). If you’re looking for a great brunch go to Tavern, Joan’s on Third or Toast.Another appointment, another city. I’ve been dreaming of going back to San Francisco. I absolutely loved it there but only had a few hours of free time before my flight home. Many thanks to Courtney for the speed tour. DSC_0937 DSC_0933 DSC_0930That is my trip to California in 12 photos. See you next time in Indian Wells.

I’ve been looking so long at these pictures of you that I almost believe that they’re real.

  • Chris S

Spectacular photos, not so spectacular choice in foods…Brussel sprouts Laura!? Bleh!!!!

  • Mathilde

Brussel sprouts??? You always surprised me lol.
The clouds on San Francisco pics are amazing.
Will you do an article about your tattoos?

  • Francesca

I’m so glad you’re blogging! Virtual high five for liking brussel sprouts! What was so delicious about them? I am curious to know.
Also, I really miss you on the tennis court. It feels like forever and I can’t wait to see you back playing again <3

What’s that tattoo on your wrist in the third picture? Can you elaborate on it next time?

  • Purser

Thank you for this blog. I really enjoy your photos and the accompanying blog. The shot of the setting sun was superb – particularly seen in the large version. What three lovely girls and those “cheesy” smiles are superb.

Laura your passport must have more stamps in it than a post office. If you get the chance in the future, check out some of America’s national parks. Yosemite and Monument Valley in particular are absolutely stunning. #globetrotter

  • Jeffrey

Did you have surgery at the Hoag Orthopedic Institute?

  • Jessie W

San Francisco is absolutely one of my favorite places now that I live up north! I’m glad you were able to visit it and admire its beauty! I also cannot wait for you to be playing again, I hope training is going well!

  • Jessie Wang

San Francisco has become one of my favorite places ever since I’ve moved up north, but don’t get me wrong, I still love SoCal. I’m glad you were able to experience the beauty of SF during your time in California! I can’t wait to see you play in Indian Wells! :)
